To be completely honest the rating for this is focused entirely on the card art. Even though you have multiple of each card value the majority of them have different card art on and all of the art is fun and quite "puny".The cards are all standard playing card size so it is a nice handy little box that can as happily live in a travel bag as your games shelf or card drawer.Now, to the gameplay.Bear in mind, as a family we play a lot of boardgames, classic card games and also table top games.We are still trying to figure out what some of the rules actually mean and where cards come from and where they go when you have discarded them - that discard pile face up or face down or depends? Special cards - why are there so many and why is it so unclear which they are without constantly referencing the leaflet? They really didn't feel like they enhanced gameplay in any shape or form.This will come out again and we will try and get to grips to it at some point but I strongly suspect this pack is destined for us to either make our own gameplay rules up or get added to my husband's playing card collection.Found the cards themselves a lot of fun but the game itself we couldn't click with.
I'm really sad to say that although we really tried to get to grips with this game over a few hours, we really struggled to enjoy it. We figure it was sort of based on the gin rummy card game which we have played multiple times and is quite fun, so were looking forward to this twist on it.We both read through the instructions multiple times but we just didn't find them easy/straightforward/obvious to understand and it just left us with more questions at the end. Must have read them about ten times and we do play lots of games but it just didn't twig with us for some reason.I.e- your turn - first two options it mentions placing your card in the discard pile but only in option 2 does it say to play it face up. But you show the discard pile as being face up so are you supposed to normally play them face down?- Magic goose card -, "look at any 1 card" - is this from your own pile or the deck or the discard pile?Do you have to swap 2 cards or can you just swap one? And with the other players or from a pile?- Danger goose - blindly swap any card with another. Again, is this from the draw pile or other piles?We were only 2 players so I really feel that it's probably more fun playing with more people.I can see the concept behind it is good ie cross between Snap and Gin Rummy (as I mentioned above)and to be fair, I will be asking my sister and her teens to play this game to get a different view and will update my review in due course.
We recently played Sneaky Goose on a family games night, and it has since become a firm go to! The game combines quick thinking, strategy,and memory, keeping everyone engaged. It’s fast-paced with short rounds, perfect for both quick bursts of fun or longer game nights. The compact size makes it a great stocking filler or travel game, and the quirky, "punny" card artwork adds extra enjoyment. However, the rules could be clearer. Some aspects, like special cards and discard pile instructions, left us scratching our heads at the beginning. We had to refer back to the rules leaflet repeatedly, and even then, we were unsure about certain gameplay elements so kind of had to make a guess. Despite this, the game itself is fun once you get the hang of it.
This card game is nice and compact so ideal for playing at home or on your travels.The cards are great fun to look at being a succession of geese, each of which has a numerical value. Each card is unique and the idea to to end the round with the lowest possible score. It is suggested that you play 5 rounds and you can use their online score keeper (accessible via QR code) to make life easier.It's a pretty quick game and the greater your memory the better. My teen has the best recall so I thought he'd love this but, alas, he wasn't fussed. The rules regarding special cards, slamming rules and honking, when you think you have the lowest score, were too much for him to easily understand, so he gave up.I do think this has potential as a travel game and I love the overall look - the artwork is fabulous. For now it's going in the cupboard but I suspect we'll come back to it.
Fun card game for two or more people, that comes in a nice (though oversized) display boxIt's essentially a memory game, and the rules take a little getting used to. But once you get the hang of it, it's a good laugh.This particular version is Halloween/Horror themed, so the pictures on the cards show an array of well-known movie and pop-culture characters, changed just enough to avoid copyright issues!You can have a bit of fun guessing who they're based on too.The box contains a QR code for you to download an app to help you keep score, which was a nice extra touch.You don't really need to though, as good old pen and paper work fine.Would make a handy travel game, especially if the box was a little smaller (it could easily be a quarter of the size and still accommodate the game).
👻It's always nice to come across a game that's a little bit different👻Suggested age is 8+ and I would suggest no younger due to the complexity👻It does take a bit of time to get your head around what to do👻However, it's worth it and a fun game👻It's about the price I'd expect for a card based game👻The box is nice and compact so doesn't take up much room and is suitable for travelling
4.5 starsNot just for Halloween, this proved quite a good challenge for me, the 8 year old and the 14 year old.Had to read the instructions a few times as it didn't come instinctively to any of us how this worked.We have 55 goose cards (my favourite is the Ronald McDonald themed one, love the design!), with numbers from 0-14 on them, and the aim of the game is to end a round with the lowest number of all the players, when adding up the cards you have left.You place your cards in a 2x2 tile, and get to swap some, look at other people's, and only ever get to see a small number of the cards in the playing area. So we all kept forgetting what we had, of course.But after a few round we were picking up how it all worked, though I think the memory aspect will take a while to come to us.Age 8 is about the lowest I'd recommend for players, my son can manage it though any younger and he might have been frustrated. And adults will be just as (in)capable as teens of doing well (or badly!).We need to play again to become more familiar and find out way with it. This is a good game for a family Christmas selection though, once everyone knows how it operates.The instructions do help.Comes in a fairly large box for just a pack of playing cards, could have been a little smaller just for storage.
We recently had a go at playing Spooky Goose, it was quite fun and very engaging for the family.The gameplay is really straightforward. You swap, slam, or shed cards to keep your score low as you try to outsmart each other. Plus, the unique Halloween-themed geese on each card added an extra layer of entertainment, especially seeing geese as our favorite horror characters.It's travel-friendly, so we'll be taking it with us to festivals. There is also a free online score tracker so that we can keep the game going without any fuss over papers or pens. Although the box has plenty of room to pop in a pad and pen.A really fun card game, well presented.
Really simple and fun game.Not complicated (at least for us) the target is to end up with the lowest score in each round.You can play as many rounds as you want, they recommend 5, but you can just play one if you want.Partly luck and partly memory game.We've played similar games before (different name and cards, but same basic idea) so we got the hang of it really quickly!Nicely made and printed.Maybe a little on the pricey side for what it is though, but other than that, very happy with it.Perfect stocking filler.

As far as I can tell, this Sneaky Goose game is not related to the similarly-styled well computer game, despite the art style being virtually the same.The cardboard case is sealed with a sticker. Unfortunately, this isn't an easy-peel sticker and removing it has damaged the box. This is poor attention to detail and very frustrating. I also found that the instruction leaflet had been rammed rather haphazardly into the box, and was therefore creased on arrival. This instruction leaflet is tiny white text on a pale blue background. Even with good vision, I found it a bit tricky to read. This is irritating as the instructions are also not terribly easy to understand and you may need to re-read them multiple times on your first couple of play-throughs.I found the central conceit of "slamming" wasn't particularly great. You are essentially trying to memorise where cards might be. Some players found it almost impossible to keep track and so felt very excluded from gameplay, which ended up being dominated by one or two people with very particular types of memory. I think if you could get together 4 or 5 people who all share good visuo-spatial memory, then this game would probably be a lot more fun.Overall, it's okay for a few play-throughs, but it's not going to become a favourite.
I had to return my version as a friend had also bought it.the game is ok, it’s a bit confusing but i like the idea of it, not sure i would get it for me but it’s nice to have in a group
Based on the Amazon product description this sounded like a good game but the reality is less exciting.The instructions have very small text which isn’t easy to read. They’re also not that straightforward to understand and I had to read them multiple times to really get the hang of how to play the game.It’s very much a memory game which requires a certain type of memory to play well.I’d describe it as a sort of hybrid between gin rummy and snap but less enjoyable than either of these.Maybe others will enjoy it but my family and I will pass and I guess I’ll eventually give it to a charity shop.
This card game is really fun and enjoyable. Better than I had expected.I can play rounds where it was quicker to finish or longer to finish. I am definitely bringing this on holiday with me.The cards are your average sized cards which is very compact and portable. In addition to this, easy to store.These cards are more suitable for teens / adults as it could get complicated.Overall, a nice different card game at a reasonable price.
It is almost an EXACT copy of an existing card game called Archduke. It seems like more and more games out there are shamelessly ripping off existing games. 😔 I was a little disappointed that they so blatantly copied that game, but at least they picked a good game to copy (and gave it a goose theme) so I give it 3 stars.UPDATE - I confess I recently learned that games such as this, Archduke, and likely others are based on a very old game called Kille. Since the art is fun and full of puns, I bumped it up to 4 stars. It would have been perfect if it had original gameplay. Many are complaining about the instructions. I don’t find them that confusing, BUT the print is tiny.. I’m struggling to be able to read them.
This family card game is based around the theme of a goose, a sneaky goose to be exact. You have to get rid of your cards by slamming down a card (they assume matches the face up pile), or swapping with one of their grid cards. Honk when you think you've won. It is a fun game, the rules are a little confusing at first, and the price is relatively steep for a card game. However, it is fun and great for all the family.
I requested this item to add to my pile that I’m donating to a local charity who distribute presents to struggling families at Christmas.Positives: The size of an ordinary pack of cards. Good quality cards and British made. 2-5 players.Negatives: Expensive for what is essentially a pack of cards. The written instructions are really hard to follow, so trial runs might be needed, especially with younger children.This is a good choice for travelling or for playing as a family; no batteries, no electricity and no screens. I think the instructions/rules need to be much clearer and the price lower because £12.99 for a pack of cards is too much.
We always bring games on holiday and like compact games that pack easily and create a fun diversion in that bit between the end of the pool and before eating. The Sneaky Goose game fits the bill and after a few rounds trying to pick up the rules and get into it we enjoyed the fairly fast pace and slightly nonsense elements. Fun for everyone in the group from 9 to 50 and inclusive enough. I don;t think it's enough to be a definite when we're packing but will come out with us from time to time.
This game was quite fun, we played it with the 3 of us on one of our family game nights.The rules were a little confusing at first, it took a few times to get to grips with them so the recommended age of 8+ is definitely a minimum. In the end, I looked at the amazon listing and the instructions on here are a bit better than the ones included in the pack. On here at least in the images you can see when the discard pile is face up or down etc.It's a fun game when you ultimately get to grips with it, our daughter found the honking funny. It just needs a few slight improvements with the included instructions to get to 5 stars.
